Dr. Feola is a Research Assistant Professor and developmental neuroscientist. Brandee completed her doctorate in Human Development and Quantitative Methodology with a Specialization in Developmental Science along with a Certificate in Neuroscience and Cognitive Sciences from University of Maryland, College Park. She then joined the Department of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for her postdoctoral training in 2017 before transitioning to faculty in 2021. Brandee is currently involved in research and teaching. Brandee’s research investigates how people respond to threat throughout development and across psychiatric disorders, including anxiety and psychotic disorders. She uses multiple methods to assess threat responses including brain imaging (structure, activation, connectivity), psychophysiological measures (cortisol, heart rate, skin conductance), and behavior (clinician-rated and self-report measures). Brandee’s teaching activities include co-directing the medical student course Brain, Behavior, and Movement and lecturing as part of the psychiatry residency training program.
